The changing faces of Dan Snaith

Today I am mainly enjoying the fact that the sun is actually out and there’s the possibility of showing my pasty pins the light of day. But, in other news I am currently revelling the in the absolutely sublime sounds from Dan Snaith, aka Caribou, aka Daphni in this case.

It seems name-changing has been an inherent trait of this Canadian producer as he was forced to trade Manitoba in for Caribou early on in his career after getting caught up in a trademark infringement palava with the frontman of the punk band The Dictators – Handsome Dick Manitoba – who sued Dan Snaith despite him never having released under the that name. So Manitoba became Caribou and Caribou became Daphni and who knows where to next. Anyway, I think there is supposed to be a distinction between his two ‘current’ titles much like the work of Ramadanman and Pearson Sound (and Maurice Donovan?), gosh these artists are so damn greedy right. I kid.

Over the last year Caribou has been releasing quite a lot of new material under the Daphni moniker, a notable vinyl-only release being his Ne Noya EP which came out via his own imprint Jiaolong late last year. This track below comes from this release (I know I am totally late on the boat with this one) and I would like to share it with you lovely folk.
